Happy Winter Solstice

 The Winter Solstice

I wish I were there tonight 
with all the people gathering for the 
WINTER SOLSTICE...
LET THE LIGHT SHINE IN 
 on this shortest day of the year. 
The Great Serpent Mound 
 The Great Serpent Mound is possibly the best-known serpent effigy in North America, stretching out nearly a quarter of a mile in the unmistakable form of a uncoiling serpent.  The serpent’s head is aligned to the sunset during the summer solstice, the coils and tail are believed to point to the sunrise on the days of the winter solstice and the equinoxes.

  1. ahhh, growing up in Ohio I've visited the Serpent Mound but have never seen it covered with snow...very lovely!
